Which Megan Cohen Is This?

This Megan Cohen (BA, Stanford '05) is an old-skool theatre worker and new-fangled web worker based in San Francisco, CA.

In previous years, theatrical colleagues have described me as "a natural Brechtian," "smarter than I remember," "an Absurdist," and "the only girl in the photo." In the past year, I have been described as "a sociopath," "a genius," and "really... something."

You can see my up-to-date production credits as a playwright on my Plays page.

As a dramaturg, I have apprenticed at super-established places like Tony-winning American Conservatory Theater and OBIE-winning The Builders' Association. Most recently, I dramaturged Bone To Pick & Diadem by Eugenie Chan for Cutting Ball Theater. This season, I also dramaturged the world premiere of Failure 2 Communicate by Valerie Fachman for Performers Under Stress.

As an actor, I have appeared with companies including the San Francisco Mime Troupe, American Conservatory Theater, and L'eau Techque Productions. I've also performed my own work at venues like Zeum, The Marsh, San Francisco Theater Pub, and La Peña.

(As a web worker, I've written for sites you might know about, like Yelp and Myspace Local. I used to write episode guides for Bill Nye's show on the Discovery Channel's "Planet Green," which sounds cool, but I never got to meet Bill Nye so it wasn't actually that cool. Then, I worked as a content manager for a small start-up you definitely haven't heard of, and that was pretty okay. Now I'm 100% freelance, which means I can go to bed whenever I want. This part of the bio is in parenthesis, because this site is really about my theatre work, not my web jobs.)
